Nazih Khaddaj Mallat, Ph.D

Vice President, Accreditation and Quality Assurance

Al Ain Campus

Biography

With a primary research focus on passive microwave and millimeter-wave circuits, antennas, filters, and telecommunications systems, Nazih has authored over 60 publications in these areas. He brings a wealth of teaching experience across both undergraduate and graduate levels, having delivered numerous courses, along with their practical laboratory components, at several leading universities in Montreal, including ETS, TELUQ, and École Polytechnique de Montréal. Throughout his career, Nazih has held several key positions within the IEEE Montreal Section, notably serving as Vice-Chair (2007-2008), Membership Development Chair (2009-2010), and Section Chair (2011-2012). He has also contributed to the IEEE community as a member of steering committees for multiple international conferences. In 2013, Nazih joined the College of Engineering at Al Ain University (AAU) in UAE, as an Assistant Professor. His dedication and expertise led to his promotion to Associate Professor in 2019, and subsequently to Full Professor in 2024. At AAU, he has held several administrative roles, including Head of the Networks & Communication Engineering and Computer Engineering Department (2013-2017), Deputy Dean of the College of Engineering (2014-2015), Dean of the College of Engineering (2015-2018), and Director of the Quality Assurance & Institutional Research Center (2018-2020). Since November 2020, he has been serving as "Vice President- Accreditation & QA". A committed member of the IEEE community, Nazih founded the IEEE AAU Student Branch and the IEEE UAE MTT-S Chapter, which later became the IEEE UAE MTT-S & IM-S & AP-S Joint Chapter. He also served as the IEEE UAE Technical Activities Coordinator (2015-2018) and as Chair of the IEEE Region 8 Chapter Coordination Subcommittee (2015-2016). Additionally, he played a pivotal role in organizing three major events at Al Ain University: the 1st IEEE International Workshop at AAU (Feb. 2014), the 11th IEEE UAE Student Day (May 2016), and the 16th Mediterranean Microwave Symposium (MMS2016, Nov. 2016).
